ICIST 2015, Kopaonik

The BAEKTEL project results were disseminated at the International Conference on Information Society and Technology (ICIST 2015) held on Kopaonik, Serbia on March 8-11, 2015. The main objective of the conference is to provide a platform for ICT oriented researchers and practitioners from all over the world to present their research results and development activities. This year's ICIST special focus is at the Future Internet Technologies, Architectures and Applications.

Marija Blagojevic and Danijela Milosevic from University of Kragujevac presented the paper titled “Massive Open Online Courses: edX vs Moodle MOOC’’, with results obtained in the framework of Tempus BAEKTEL project. The presentation was performed under the topic: Learning Management Systems. We have presented the results from comparative analysis of edX and Moodle MOOC pointing out weakness and strengths of both platforms.

The dissemination event was attended by academic staff from all Serbian HE institutions, as well as representatives from Serbian ICT companies. The presentation was followed by interesting discussion.

We would like to point out the comment from Dr. Richard Mark Soley, Chairman and CEO, Object Management Group, who suggested the BAEKTEL consortium to contact the edX developers who would be pleased to hear the idea of choosing edX for publishing OER that combine industry and academic knowledge.
