University of Basilicata portal: 1First International BAEKTEL Workshop

First International Workshop within BAEKTEL project was held in Matera on January 22-23, 2015, at the University of Basilicata which coordinates the project. BAEKTEL is a project funded by the European Union, through EACEA (Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency), as part of the Tempus program, which promotes and supports innovation projects, specifically in higher education. The coordinator of the project, Professor Giovanni Schiuma pointed out the overall objective of the project which is to develop a prototype e-learning platform in the service of universities and companies with educational and didactic content accessible freely and without charge (Open Educational Resources, OER). The users of the platform will be university students but also company employees. Students will find useful content to enrich their academic knowledge and employees will be able to update and expand their knowledge following the lifelong learning approach. Producers of educational material will be university teachers, as well as company experts. Eng. Roberto Linzalone, researcher at the University of Basilicata and project manager stressed one of the goals of this project which is to create an international network of research and development.

The University of Basilicata is at the head of an innovative international project which aims at the modernization in higher education by creating a platform for e-learning in the service of universities and European companies, accessible freely and without charge. On the platform users can find educational and didactic content with a wide range of uses (preparation of university exams or updates of entrepreneurial knowledge) published by teachers and company experts. On January 22-23 the First international workshop of BAEKTEL project - of which the University of Basilicata is the leader – was held in Matera with the objective to present an innovative platform for e-learning in the service of universities and European companies. The platform will be accessible freely and without charge for users. University of Basilicata coordinates activities of universities and institutions from Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Romania.

BADEN (Balkan Distance Education Network) has published an informative text in Serbian about Tempus BAEKTEL project in the March issue of BADEN Newsletter.

BADEN Newsletter is distributed across the whole WB region, so the info about the project will reach a large number of academics, professionals and end users.
